The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee’s Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights subcommittee is examining the pricing policies within the contact lens industry this coming year. This Universal Pricing issue will be a key item on our AOA-PAC agenda. Universal pricing companies make it easy for patients to use contact lenses improperly, leading to major health risks down the road. These online companies preach convenience but are ultimately dangerous to patients. Contacts should not be treated as consumer goods.
